My surgeon told me to start working on my playlist for surgery (but if they don't like it, they'll just play "Our own crap" as he called it). I need help to create an awesome/amusing playlist, my doc is kind of a joker.

Here's what I have so far

-Eye of the Tiger (you can't go wrong, can you?)

-Feeling Good (Michael Buble, song just makes me feel good!)

-Don't Stop Believing

-.........................here's where I draw a blank. I know if anyone can help, its you guys!

Smooth - Santana (we all want our surgery / recovery to go smoothly)

Take it Easy - Eagles (Doc - please take it easy, those are my insides you are messing with!)

Sugar Shack (that's about as close to sugar as you'll be for a long time)

Good luck! Your doc sounds like a personable guy.:P

If your surgeon has a sense of humor and you do as well, try, "Itsy bitsy, Teenie Weenie, Yellow polka dot bikini" I don't know the full name of the song, but hey, it should bring a smile:)

Good Luck on your Surgery!

I would be tempted to put something by shirley temple, or that song sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Just something entirely unexpected and funny. However, my doctor would expect something like that from me lol

My son LOVES 50's music and it would seem there are some good titles there.

Personally I had my playlist that I listened to on the way to the hospital and it was a lot of F-U! music to try to get me amped up and ready so I wouldn't chicken out.

My favorite addition to the playlist: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. LOL!

If you're not familiar with them, look up the Merry Wives of Windsor. "The Swallow" should tickle your surgeon, if you don't mind a bit of laughter in the OR. Drunken Barmaid isn't bad, either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
