Paola 62 Posted June 25, 2011 Last night while I was drifting off to sleep this question popped to my head: What happens with the staples? Are they left in your stomach forever? Do they rust? Do they come loose at some point?
Tiffykins 673 Posted June 25, 2011 They are titanium, medical grade staples. The stomach tissue scars over the staples and they are there forever. You can have xrays, ct scans, MRIs without issue. I have 2 titanium screws in my left knee as well, and they've been there for over 18 years without issue. They are non-ferrous and will not set off metal detectors.
