OK so tomorrow is my birthday and I plan to do some teensy bad girl things. I am ultra great on my routine- 60-80 grams of Protein and 64ounces plus Water every day since day 5, exercising at least an hour a day and often two times, and now even good on my supplements. And always less than 30 carbs a day. ALWAYS for 8 weeks (two weeks pre-op)

However I am planning to have more carbs tomorrow and I feel fine about it. Just a little here and there- nothing too bad.

One of thing I want a tiny taste of is the movie theater popcorn that my son used to bring me every day he worked- formerly huge bags of buttered popcorn, and now I want a little bit. (My husband and I watch Turner Movie Classics while we work on our wedding images and that popcorn was awesome!)

HOwever I seem to remember popcorn being on a no-no list and want to be sure it wont hurt my sleeve- anyone know?

Well I'm going to come out and say it's OK. There is no way a kernel will get caught in a "seam" after a few weeks this seam is just as closed as the incisions are on your belly. If you're on solid foods then it's OK in moderation, be careful to not over do it though as you can eat a whole lot of popcorn, it really slides on through without much resistance. If it doesn't agree for some reason then wait a week or two and start again.

Yep, my instructions as well. Once we're on regular food, the kernels would pass through just as they did pre-op.

I don't know when you should start eating popcorn, but I know that popcorn for me can really fit nicely in my stomach. I can eat more popcorn than any other foods I have tried. I think it's like an assembly belt, as long as you keep shoveling it in the popcorn keeps pushing through. probably best to stay away from it though.

Ok I'm not expert but I will give you my experience. At about three weeks out my husband wanted to go to the movies. I really wanted to avoid it because I could not eat the popcorn but I caved and went. I could not avoid the popcorn so what I did was eat one piece every fifteen minutes and made sure I chewed really well. At first yes I watched the clock so I could figure out when I got my next piece but eventually I gave up and just watched the movie and sipped my Water. I know that was probably the wrong thing to do but some habits are just really hard to break and popcorn at movies is one of them.

Thanks for the b'day wishes!

popcorn report- YUMMMM!!! I ate a few handfuls and stopped- now awaiting a half hour to drink some Water. I haven't actually eaten that much today at all- what with waiting in between for drinking and what was palatable I have probably eaten less than I usually do.

Happy Birthday, Meggie! Glad you ate some popcorn! I have never heard to wait so long for popcorn. Your tummy does not take 6 months to heal. And if you go by the notion of looking at your outside incisions, then it would be even earlier out than you are now! I know mine were completely closed after about a week and not sore anymore after a couple weeks.

Hope you enjoyed your day!smile.gif

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
