Hey everyone! I have a couple of questions about excerise and what everyone uses. I'm only 5 weeks out and I'm really excited to actually start the ab excersises.

The thing is I have no clue where to start! I've always ran my whole life, I'm fine with that (a few years of playing soccer and lacrosse) but I wanted to really get focused with my body. I know if I do weight training and what not there's a less likely chance of my skin to sag.

I wanted to know if anyone had any good results with dvds/videos and stuff. So I'm just looking for some advice. I really want to start good habits early so that I don't get lazy later on =p plus schools out for me so the goal for my summer is to get healthy!

Ps. I know that muscle weighs more than fat so did anyone have a problem wth losing weight while they were doing the weight training?

I'm 9wks out and just started cardio. I do step class and kickboxing 4 times a week and then weight training 1 day. I havent had any weight gain, I've actually lost this week and my weigh-in isnt until Monday! (Today's Friday). I'm excited to see what results I get.

As for DVDs, I know a lot of people do Zumba, but I actually go to the gym during lunch and do the classes there.

Good luck to you!

That sounds like a good idea! a close friend told me about the zumba too. but do you have idea about something like p90x? I mean do you think its too intense for someone who is barely 6 weeks out? I think i can handle it (i hope so anyway =p) because i like a good challenge!! i saw what it could do. a friend that lived next door to me in school had p90x and in one semester it made a huge difference, but he hadnt been sleeved before! so i dont know if i should start now or wait a bit more

Wait till at least 6 weeks are up. It takes this long for the surgery to heal internally. Then start slowly....pace yourself.

I take dance class twice a week, walk for 45 minutes twice a week and something else once a week, like yesterday I rode my bike for about 2 hours. I started this 2 1/2 years before I got the surgery, and as the fat melts off there are some muscles underneath!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
