Full liquids (Dr. Aceves)

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me their suggestions for what they drank during "full liquids" stage according to Dr. Aceves post-op diet? I am planning on using milk instead of Water for my Protein Shakes, adding s/f, f/f pudding, and creamy Soups to what was already ok for clears. Would it include blenderized soups? How about thin yogurt? What else did you add?

Every surgeon is so different! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything else I can have.

Thanks in advance!

I ate anything that I could get to the consistency of a cream Soup. I put loads of stuff in the blender and whizzed it up and if it was too thick, added Water or milk. I had white Beans and pesto, black beans and salsa, vietnamese noodle soup, anything that I could pour through a strainer, though nothing with tiny seeds. I was craving flavor instead of all those sweet Protein Shakes.< /p>

I know Jello is considered clear liquid but can we eat Jello post op?

They gave me jello in the hospital after my leak test came back ok.

My fave full liquid was broccoli cheese Soup blended and strained to get the little balls out! also baked potato soup blended. i just added a bit of milk to thin them out some. also pintos and cheese from Taco Bell, could only eat about 3 bites, but the small container lasted a few days!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
