I haven't been sleeved yet, probably in the next 2-3 months but I've been following this site and learning a lot about what to expect. I have a question that I haven't seen before. Before the sleeve whenever I tried to diet, I would sometimes get kinda dizzy and weak from lack of food. I know after the sleeve you can only eat teeny tiny amounts so what keeps you from getting that weak or dizzy feeling or even a light-headed feeling? I realize your body has to (and will) adjust to the small amount of food/drink intake, but until it does are you susceptible to the physical side effects of trying to diet?

Thanks.

In the very beginning right after I was sleeved, I did experience a lot of weakness and I was tired a lot. But his also happened while I was on my 3 day pre-op diet. The weakness and lack of energy is totally normal since you're on Clear liquids. And, right after surgery, you're coming down from the meds they use to put you under, the pain meds, and the lack of nutrients.

However, after a while, 2wks for me, your body starts to adjust and you are able to consume full liquids like Protein shakes and such, and the weakness and light-headed feelings go away. AND once you've started to lose some weight, you actually start to have a lot of energy!! Like for me, I was getting up outta bed w/out having to hit snooze 3 or 4 times!

So, yes, it is normal but after a couple weeks when you start to get some good nutrition in, oh, and your Vitamins, you wont be feeling like that all the time!

I'd like to agree with StacyS, this is very true. Your body will absolutely adjust to the new routine in time. I went through that week and out of it feeling for at least the first whole month, but me then and me today are completely different! I can do 3 hours of workout and still feel energized.

Do not worry, you will do excellently. Best wishes!!

Thanks, I was hoping that's how it would work out. I plan on taking 1 week off after the surgery and then maybe half days if I needed to. I have an office/desk job, so I'm thinking (hoping) my energey level will be OK since I sit most of the day.

Hi-

I am 9 days out, today so far has been my best.

weak? I get tired, this morning I had a shake and had to go do an errand-

I was not my bubbly self, it took strength to drive into town, and back...

this is why I guess they give you 3 weeks off, surgery + recovery time...

My wife, took longer to recover, around week 3 she was like a cyclone...
