I have been using Bariatric Advantage Protein powder. I don't find it too sweet. I like the vanilla. At first I didn't care for BA but i was only mixing it with Water. Now, even if I just add a splash of nonfat milk it tastes much better; and I add a bit more liquid than the suggested amount. BA will become very thick and frothy if you put it in a blender. I don't care for all those bubbles so I just prepare mine in a shaker. If you are familiar with muscle milk light---to compare---I think BA is about 1/3 as sweet but 3x thicker. You can get it online. Also, a serving has 27g of Protein, when you add a bit of milk you get at least 30g. I would love to get more ready to drink shakes for convenience, but I can't see paying so much money. At this point, I'm happy with BA now that I have figured out how to tailor it to my taste.

I don't think diluting your shakes after surgery should be an issue--remember that after surgery it is important to get in as much flluid as possible. I hope this helps.

If you go to the food section you can find places to order samples . Then you can try a few kinds without having to buy a whole bunch.

Spiru-tein has vanilla and chocolate Protein that are unsweetened, you add your own sweetener as much or as little as you want. They sell them in single serving packets, so you could try them out first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
