Fast track through Kaiser

Yeah it was packed, is it usually like that? I'm doing good. Started the pre-op diet and everything else the day after orientation. The 16 lbs is since 5/29 when I started a diet on my own. I have lost NOTHING since orientation and starting the pre-op diet!! It's SOOOO frustrating. I was doing a diet with an app on my phone from 5/29-6/14 eating 1900 calories a day and lost the 16lbs. Now eating about 1200 (usually less), still exercising the same as before (an hour a day, 7 days a week) and nothing! No budge on the scale. My first surgeon appointment is 7/14, my lifestyle class is 7/13 and I start my 14 week class at Kaiser Santa Rosa on 6/30. I'm calling Dr. Im for cancellations every couple days, they said it's rare for a consultation cancellation.

I would assume it's always packed because it's covering basically all of northern CA. I'm sorry you're not losing. I wasn't losing at first, now I am, but I wasn't dieting before I started. Drink all your Water and get a good nights sleep, I think it helps. I think I got lucky on the cancellation thing. I called at 4 p.m. the day after our orientation and they had a surgeon appointment the next day at 4 with my same surgeon! So keep trying, it can happen!

I was originally scheduled for my consultation on June 30th and I called once a week to check for cancelations and I got in for my consultation way earlier. :) I think they may have told a little fib when they said it's rare for consultation cancellations because, think about it. They give every single person a consultation appointment that goes to the orientation. A lot of people leave the orientation thinking to themselves "Oh man, this is NOT for me..." they wait a few days to think it over, then call and cancel their appointment :) If you want to get in faster, definitely keep calling for an earlier appointment. That's how I've gotten through so fast. Good luck, girl!! :)

Well, my surgery date is tentatively schedule for July 27th! I will get a phone call on Monday or Tuesday if she can get me in earlier. I really wanted to be able to have surgery in early to mid July because I work 8-5 then go to school from 6-10 and school starts in August. I wanted to have plenty of time to heal before going back to that crazy schedule. So we'll see. But for now... I HAVE A DATE!!! :) WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
