Getting Sleeved June 27th

Recommended Posts

I am new here and haven't posted much....but yesterday when I was driving home from work I had an emotional breakdown!!! I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way??? I started beating myself up for "letting myself get this way" and needing surgery to help fix me!!! I started feeling selfish for putting my family through this with me!!! And the thoughts of "what if something goes wrong" won't get out of my head!!! I know why i am doing this and I want to be healthy more than anything but I guess i'm just scared!!!! Anyone else feeling the same????

This is my first reply on this site. I know how you are feeling sweetie. I had a previous husband pass away and the thought of my kids losing another parent is too scary for me to bear. I too am very scared. My thirteen year old told me something very valuable. He said mom if you don't have the surgery, you may die young. I want you to live as long as possible. I guess he is a very smart boy. I also think that if it truly is our time to go we can do nothing about it. It is hard to go through all of this but mostly I wanted you to know I am going through all of the same thoughts as you and they haven't scheduled my surgery yet. Hope this helps and hope you feel beter :)

I think you need to read your two favorite quotes...over and over.

Yes, reaction is completely normal as you are having an optional surgery. Suggest you write down why you want this surgery and why you need this surgery. Be honest, putting down shopping in junior section is okay. Next, since you are new to site, read some of the NSV (non scale victory) posts by scrolling down. These are my sleeve brother and sisters getting excited over more than just a pound weight loss on the scale. Be excited, a new you is close at hand - insert your two favorite quotes please here. :)

I love my sleeve and have no regrets. Best wishes and keep us posted.

That is completely normal - I was in a bad state for a week before surgery. Take care of yourself and you will be alright.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
