420gal 1 Posted June 20, 2011 Any current tokers on this board? I'm considering getting the VSG procedure. I don't smoke my cannabis, but I vaporize it (much healthier way to consume it).
Foxbins 625 Posted June 21, 2011 I haven't smoked in years, but I'm not going to do anything that has been shown to increase appetite. I'm not going to take the chance.
KellyL 173 Posted June 21, 2011 I don't know what vaporizing it means but as Foxbins says, theres the munchies thing to consider. May not be a problem as long as you munch on Protein stuff though lol :hippie:
Rev Me Up! 75 Posted June 21, 2011 THere was a very active thread on this before, but I didn't read it all so I don't know how helpful it would be. Do a search for "marijuana" on the board and you should find it. You may be able to get more info from the thread starter on that subject. I am in no way judgmental about cannabis use and I support medical dispensing. That said, you may want to try and seek out a medical dispensary (are you in California?) that can help you understand how the side affects may affect you after surgery. I'm not advocating here, but it may help you with nausea after the fact. However, you don't want to self medicate right after surgery. Give yourself time to heal. Good luck-
TheButterfly145 9 Posted June 21, 2011 Some strains result in less 'munchie' problems than others. I would agree that you should go to your local dispensary and talk to them about it. Also ask them about some types that provide a good result with minimal munch. It's probably a good idea to lay off for the two weeks prior to surgery so your body is clean. You might want to be open with your surgeon as well so they can properly adjust prescription medication requirements and be prepared in the event of complications. An open-minded surgeon may decide to let you use that as an alternative to some of the other anti-nausea and pain meds. Good luck with your surgery!
