Are those prices quoted for the entire 7 night cruise? Those are great rates! I didn't know you had to book so far in advance though. I love the idea of it, but I'm kind of scared to do it because I'd be traveling alone. I get so nervous with meeting new people and I'm always thinking they take one look at me and categorize me as the fat chick. But maybe this is what my shrink would call "facing my fears."

Is the cruise already booked up? If not, would anyone be interested in sharing the outside double? If it is booked up, I'd be happy to help plan the next trip. I don't actually know any travel agents, but maybe we could use the same person. I went on a Carnival Cruise about five years ago and it was fun. I think I'd like to try it again, and this time really enjoy it. Last time, I was traveling with these three skinny pretty girls and one of the girl's boyfriend and was so embarrased to be around them. It was a clear case of "which one of these is not like the others?" I was too self-concious the whole time and couldn't relax and just have fun.

We still have cabins left and we are still placing roomies together. We are trying to match them as best we can. Just PM me!

You don't have to book so far in advance, you just have to book that far in advance if you want THAT rate :)

Yes the price is for the ENTIRE week long cruise. The price includes taxes and port charges. The only additional would be airfare, transfers and insurance if you want it.

Jenna! Great idea! I've checked with my childcare coordinator (read: parents) and we're good to go!

If the transfers are a problem for anyone, I live in Houston and could probably fit one or two people (who pack light) into my small car for the trip from the airport to Galveston.

OR, for any of those who may be arriving the Saturday before maybe we can plan to meet for a short dinner so that we'll recognize faces upon boarding.

Jenna, I'll PM you all of my details... thanks for coordinating this event!

Hey Jenna

We have a van and I am sure we can pick up a few people (I am sure they can even come the night before and stay at our house for the night). If anyone needs a ride from airport to Galvaston let me know

Alex

I'm so jealous! :( What are the chances that a few months before the cruise, there'd still be open rooms? How much do the prices increase?

There's just no way that I can plan something so far ahead.

Sorry Argon. Our prices are only for this group and the cut off date is mid September. We are already filling up fast. Why not just block the date off in the calendar, and tell everything else it can wait?!?!?! That is what I am doing. I usually don't plan so far ahead but the pricing is so great for a June cruise, I am this time!!

I have no idea whether you can get a cabin or not closer to the date but it wouldn't be with the group rate and you wouldn't be linked to us for dinner tables. Feeling lucky?

Come on... live a little and LET'S GO ON A CRUISE!!! WOOOOT WOOOOT

I would love to go with you, but I'm already scheduled to go on a 7-day Quilting Cruise (no hubbies) in January out of Galveston going to Jamaica, Cayman Island and Cozumel. When I signed up for that, we planned on eating and sewing!

Now, I'm hoping to be much slimmer by January and plan to spend more time sewing and less time eating! Yay for me! :(

It's deposit week! This week, I'll be touching base with everyone and getting your deposit information (credit card numbers or where you can send a check) and securing your rooms -- if I haven't done so already. Please expect a call by the end of the week at the latest from my - my name is Elisa (pronounced "Eh - lee - suh") - and some of the people I already called thought I was a telemarketer!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
