It has been a long time coming. I have been thinking of WLS for a long time, I am only 25 going to be 26 a month from tomorrow and have battled obesity for my entire life. My highest weight was 320lbs and now I am 287. After crash dieting, weight watchers, my own diet seeing diet doctors and seeing nutristionusts its come off and then it all comes back on. I suffer from PCOS and metabollic syndrome both which are genetic. I eat healthy and work out four to five times a week havent been good latelybecause I bruised my foot.

Anyway I was going to do the lapband and was pretty dead set on that, I met with my surgeon with my parents the other day and after explaining to me all the WLS options the Vertical Sleeve seems to be the best bet. Its the safest I feel of them all! So I am set I am starting all my pre op appointments and except to go under the knife sometime in August-September.

Well, good luck on your journey. You are in very good company. If you ever have questions about pre-op, post-op, or just need supporting, don't ever be afraid to ask. There is always someone on this forum in the stage as you are.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
