hehehehe

i get that alot

i went into a vacation with a friend

so we mostly eat every from different restaurant

i usually just order an appetizer or eat few bites from my friend's plate

and i never order drinks :D

so the waiter is usually confused about it all

and ofc the classical weird look on their faces when i order tiny pieces of chicken nuggets or mashed potato

and leaving most of it in the plate xD

sometimes they check if the food is good wondering why u only ate 1/4 of it

cause i usually eat the Protein portion of the plate ( salmon, chicken breast) leaving the carbs or vegs

My standard restaurant order is now Soup. I cheerfully smile and say something like, "Wow, it all looks great, and I'm sorry I'm not very hungry. Please just bring me a cup of Soup for my entree," and then, again, break eye contact with the waiter, look at the next person, and say, "What are you going to have?" and that shifts the attention off of me. Most of the time, my husband or close friends will offer me a bite off their plate, but if I say, "No, thanks," we just move on with the meal.

So far, so good. I always take stuff home, too--today at lunch, I ate about 1/4 of my French onion soup (after surgically removing the soup-soaked bread, which used to be my favorite part, but which now my sleeve doesn't tolerate).... When the waiter asked if everything was okay, I said, "Yes, it's delicious, thanks! Can you please bring me a go container?" and that was that. I packed the rest up and now I have probably 3 more meals to enjoy of that delicious soup! I definitely need to investigate reusable go containers, because let's face it, we are going to need them on a regular basis if we eat out much at all, and carrying a clean butter tub isn't necessarily going to cut it in a nice restaurant! LOL

I think its just the American way now. People start to feel freaked out if you have small portions or no drink in front of you. They assume either you want something or somethings wrong with you, no one assumes your satisfied.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
