My Story

I use Gold Standard 100% Whey...Delicious strawberry from GNC. I usually spend about $30 for 32 servings but they have a discount card that you can get. It usually saves me money. Also they email coupons to me. If I bring in my cell phone with the email I dont have to even print it out. They also have great deals on line for the Protein every once in a while. I have never ordered on line though...The thing about GNC over Vitamin World or others is if you dont like it you can exchange it no questions asked. Even if you tried it a few times. If you have their discount card you do not even have to keep your receipt they look it up by your card. Everyone's tastes are different so try as many as you can until you find one you like. The one I like mixed with skim milk tastes like strawberry Nestle Quick. It is best if it is very cold and I like to make it ahead and let it sit in the fridge...it dissolves better this way. Hope this helps...good luck.

I hated the powders when I tried them and just couldn't get used to them. I use the Atkins low car/low sugar drinks. They have 15 grams per 11 oz drink. In the first two weeks post op I was able to get down 2-3 of these a day. By the third week I was able to get in 4 to equal my 60 grams of Protein. Target has them for about 5-6 bucks per 4 pack in many flavors. I personally like the dark chocolate best. Hope this helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
