Not the best news from the tests, looks like I may have a eroded band, will not know if Dr. Aceves will be able to do the VSG surgery at the same time. Happy that I chose him as my surgeon tho because he has the experience to make the best decision! Hoping that if there is erosion that its minor and not in the area that will cause a problem. Yall cross your fingers. And Pray. :)

Sad to report that Dr. Aceves was unable to do the revision at the same time. 90% of my band had eroded into the stomach, very bad erosion, Dr Aceves did a great job removing the band and reparing the stomach and said after about 6 months of healing the sleeve will be no problem. I trust his opinion. This guy and his staff are extremely professional.

Sorry to hear that! Sounds like it was pretty bad, but the good news is you will have a practically virgin stomach for Dr. Aceves to work on (or whomever you choose) when the time comes.

Hang in there!!smile.gif

Dr. Aceves is so great. You are in the best hands and you'll still be able to get your sleeve. He is one of the best revision surgeons in the world.

If you're gonna do it...do it right. Allow yourself to heal, it wil, be worth the wait. Glad your surgery went well.

Sorry about not getting your sleeve, but getting the band out is the first step towards making that happen. Speedy healing to you!

Just read this sorry. I was quoted 11,200 for removal and sleeve. The charge for removing my band was 4500 and I was reimbursed the difference.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
