Hi guys,

I will be starting mushies in the next few days and I'm feeling a little nervous. I imagine choking or feeling pain. Anyone have any tips on what would be a good food to start with? Quantity? Any experiences to share? things to avoid. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. My best to all on your journeys!!!

Congrats on graduating to mushies!! I am counting down till I can eat them lol ... I have not yet, however my friend who has been on mushies for 2 wks says that mashed potatoes and canned green Beans are her best friend lol. Later of course you'll have to watch the carbs on the potatoes, but for now your intake is so small i dont think it matters. She also does shrimp as its easy to go down.. and chicken salad as long as its tender enough and she chews well. Good luck let me know how it goes!!!

I had a bullet blender--could zap small quantities, and that was helpful. I zapped up a lot of Soup, tuna and chicken salad (kind of made a mousse-sort of consistency).... soft-scrambled eggs work for a lot of people. Cream of wheat never tasted so good--and yogurt is great, too.

Enjoy!

I use my magic bullet a lot too. My first mushie food was one scrambled egg with 1T of cheddar cheese- and it went down well though many have problems with scrambled eggs. Cottage cheese is good too. I puree Soup and add Protein powder to it too. Refried Beans are great- I have made a fabulous little 1/4 cup casserole with a few T of the Beans, a T of shredded cheese, a little avocado and a little sour cream. Yummy! I also pureed fruits like peaches, and soaked dried apricots - very helpful for Constipation. Also of course vegetables, cooked soft.

There is also a wonderful recipe on The World According to Eggface for a RIcotta Bake that is great for the mushies! I have done the nutritional value of it too if you need it, as Eggface does not include those.

The great thing is tonight, my first night adding ground beef, I put a layer of ground been on top of the ricotta in this recipe, under the Tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella- and it was fabulous! The beef went down great thankfully! (I am at six weeks) and my family loves it too! So it is a wonderfully adaptive recipe. I did the nutritional stats on that too!

My doctor has aan approach to adding each new food, pureed or otherwise. Take one small bite, chew it very very well. Wait 2 minutes. If it goes down well and feels fine then take two small bites- wait two minutes, then three, etc. until you have eaten to your capacity. In addition- don;t start with much! A scant 1/4 cup at the most.

Good luck! Enjoy!

I don't know if I did a bad thing or not, but this is what I did last night:

I am still on full liquids.

For the last few days I have been craving my Tomato salad. (I think I am addicted to fresh garden grown tomatoes!) Anyway, yesterday I blended one fresh tomato, one peeled cuke, a bit of fresh onion, a spritz of oil, a sprinkle of vinegar and seasonings. Then I blended it again and a third time. I strained it and sipped on it for about an hour. What a tast sensation!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed every sip!!! :hungry:

Am I going to die and go to Hell?

If you had eaten it without blending I would say yes ;-P But blending and straining and satisfying the craving? No way!

Guys, thank you so much!!! These are GREAT ideas!!! Looks like I should invest in a magic bullet! Valentina, you are so funny!!! I loved your idea. I love tomatoes too. Especially home grown! I'm just afraid of the acid but it sounds like for you it went down no problem! I'll have to try it. Thanks again guys!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
