I've lost approx 40 pounds since starting this whole project and my waist has only changed by approximately 1.5 inches. I carry most of my weight in my middle, but I am wondering, is it possible that some of the visceral fat is shifting but I just don't see the difference on the outside? Nothing else seems to have shrunk much either. I have (had?) metabolic syndrome and my blood pressure and blood sugar are now normal. Anyone else notice this? I do notice my face is thinner and my calves and feet.

It seems my midsection is taking the longest to shrink too. The place I need to shrink the most!! Maybe its just not as noticable if it's the thickest part. I can definitely tell behind the steering wheel that there is much more space between my tummy and the steering wheel.

:)

My stomach is still a little swollen and I had my surgery before you- so that might be part of it.

I am also aware I will need to start working those abs....as soon as I can. We do 300 crunches in our Water aerobics classes so if you have physical issues consider the water!

Oh it will fight you! and then it will shrink! In the 7 months post surgery i have went from a 46 to a 36, 10 inches.

You will lose it first around the face and other small areas like the wrists and shoulders. It is the bodies way holding on for famine! At some point you will have to decide ( like a year from now) how much is fat and how much is extra skin and have it removed if you so desire. This is the best thing you have ever done for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
