Incision pain still sucks. Gas pain still sucks. Thankful for this site. Yesterday read a post about guy who went to hospital for dehydration coupled with another post where someone could drink a lot right after surgery. So today I am trying my best to get these damn fluids in. I am feeling good with 1/4 cup of fluids in 15 minutes. I probably could do more, but I don't want to push it too far. Still no sign of farts, which I feel something a coming, but I will just hang tight, Tried some Mylanta, but it is so gross. I would rather have the pain. Wish there was something better. I read the posts today about people not losing enough, I am 5'10" and weigh 290 one week before surgery and then 284 before surgery. I have no scale and don't want on and if I lose only 20 pounds I will be happy because when I would eat a whole pizza I would hate myself. So I don't even care about being super skinny. I just don't want to feel that feeling after I leave an all you can eat place. That feeling is the worst.

Congratulations on your surgery! The gas and incision pain will go away shortly; I barely remember mine now, although I know I had it. Keep drinking and walking, my intestines didn't start working until day 3 either.

My surgeon says that the first six months are the time to maximize your weight loss and I have found that he is right--the weight just falls off early on. Although it may be different for you, I have to work at it now, going to the gym, running, making good food choices--but I am post-menopausal and yo-yo'ed for decades and my poor body holds on to fat for dear life.

I predict that you will do great and you will find that you have eaten your last "all you can eat" meal. Now you will be stuffed with just a little food.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi there, pain really sucks, try some GasX for the gas pains, keep walking and sipping. Your doing good for only 3 days out. . it does get better. . . good for you not wanting a scale, that thing will kill you with worry if you have one. . . i never used one either and just depended on my doctor visits. . let me tell you, you will be alot happier without a scale. . . I've never wanted to be super skinny either (won't look good on me anyhow) good luck to you. . you'll do good!

My boyfriend thinks the change was too drastic. I had to tell him about my sneaking food in. He really thought I didn't eat a lot. I told him that everyday after work I would go to McDonalds and get two meals and eat them. I had gotten to the point where I was hiding eating from him and everyone. I could eat 8 pieces of chicken, 3 biscuts and two large sides no problem. I told him while I know this process may seem drastic, if I kept going I would die either from a heart attack or killing myself, After my binge eating, I would feel so sad I was borderline suicidal. I am so happy that I have taken this step, and I will be going to OA and my support groups, He is skinny and can eat anything, He doesn't understand,, but he will feel the benefit one day when we are having sex and I can finally be back on top without being super embarrassed. Skinny people never understand.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
