Sedonagirl 0 Posted July 5, 2006 I'm one week post op, but I notice that if I consume anything that is cold, it really hurts my esophogus. I notice that some people eat ice, but I could never. At least, not yet. Does this go away?
Elisabethsew 50 Posted July 5, 2006 Healing takes 4-6 weeks and you're only a week post-op. Sometimes, cold can cause the esophagus to spasm. Since you've still got quite a bit of swelling at this point, it produces pain. Listen to your body and only advance your diet as directed by your MD. Stay away from extreme cold and hot until you're healed.
BPM 0 Posted July 5, 2006 You could also put the ice chips in your mouth....let them melt and then swallow so they won't feel so cold. Just a thought.....good luck.
