Non-Sweet Protien Drinks - Do they exist?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there are protien drinks that are not sweet? I am a savory person and do not like sweets all that much. Any suggestions?

I've not come across a savory type of flavor for Protein Drinks. It took me about 12 kinds to find one I liked, and the least sweet I came across was Isopure Zero Carb. It was also the nastiest. Not sure how closely those two are related. :)

Second the unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein powder. Lots of folks here love it, but I couldn't tolerate it. That's about the only savory Protein I can think of. You could also get the Unjury unflavored kind and add it to something to drink. I also tried that and it is not 100% "unflavored" if you ask me, but can be tolerated if you mix it with something strong.

Good luck finding something. I know all the sweet stuff can get sickeningly sweet post-op.

Thank you both for ths information. I am a true meat eater and can go for weeks without anything sweet. I am trying to get myself prepared for post-op and have heard that finding the Protein drink seems to be the most difficult thing to do.

Thanks again for the info.

Ugh after reading this thread (and some of the others on here) I'm not excited at ALL about the Protein thing. I too am a savory person and the thought of all this sweet stuff makes me gag. My mom had lap band last year and she mixes Unjury chocolate powder with her coffee in the morning and it's tolerable, but I've only had a sip or two and not a whole cup of it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
