When I was at your stage I could manage about 400 calories a day--320 from shakes, the rest from yogurt or Soup. I was on liquids for a month. When I could eat food, my surgeon wanted between 600-800 calories a day during the losing phase.

My surgeons rule is 600-800 calories in the losing phase. And with the restriction- that happens naturally. I log everything at fatsecret.com . I am just on purees/soft foods and can fit about 2 ounces max- and I am allowed and expected to have 2 Protein Drinks a day- I use one sweet one and one helping of Unjury chicken Soup. Until I am eating more I wont be able to get all 80 grams from food.< /p>

Meggie, I just went to fatsecret.com and signed up with them. Thanks for that tip! I am in my 2nd month of my 4 month pre op diet so I am expecting to have my surgery sometime in Sept/Oct timeframe. But I have started reading/following this site and have gotten a lot of my questions answered. This is a great place to learn and hopefully get an idea of what I am "really" getting ready to go thru.

Kaiser Fremont guidelines are 400-600 calories per day during the soft food stage, which typically starts at the 2 week post-op and lasts till the 6 week post-op.
