Am I eating too much?

Recommended Posts

Ok I am 3 months post op and have lost about 40 pounds. Lately, I have started craving sweets and today I just ate a just ate an entire Skinny Cow Heavenly Peanut Butter Crisp (110 calories) for lunch along with 3 bites of rice. I know these are horrible foods to be eating but, I am craving them terribly. I am scared because should I be able to eat a whole crisp (package weight 0.77 oz)? Last night I ate a whole piece of toast with a piece of turkey breask on it. Is this typical? I know I should be measuring my food but I just get so busy and lazy. Any tricks to help eye ball the food measurements?

I'm sorry this is happening to you. . . but at least you got the craving out of your hair right. . . now no more of that (but that will be up to you of course) . . . I fell into that rut and in the beginning it was great, could eat whatever and still loose the weight. . . then a year was up and guess what? I've stopped loosing. . . yes I hit the doctors goal weight but i personally still want to lose 20 - 30 lbs more. . it's really hard especially since i didn't teach myself properly. . . i don't eat much, but it's what i eat that's bad. . . so i'm back to basics and back to exercise. . . back to the olden days of diet and exercise. . . ugh life is amazing so be careful with your liberal eating and such ok? Good luck

My suggestion would be to start earlier so you have time to measure. It takes time to learn how to eyeball portions. Be careful not to overstuff your sleeve. I've heard that some folks don't have a full feeling or signal and this can become a huge problem if you eat too much. Please be very careful.

My Surgeon's goal is to get me to STOP thinking about what I eat. He says he doesn't think/obsess about what he's eating (he's thin) His main thing is to get me to think about ACTIVITY Moving and being active and participating in life.

You need to detox yourself. You have to cut the carbs and sugar out so the cravings will go away. Do strict Protein to cleanse your system. If you crave sweets, pop in a piece of sugarless gum. It helps A LOT!!!

Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
