myrori 55 Posted June 15, 2011 So here I am at 8 months out and suddenly my hair starts thinning in front to the point I am condsidering a hair piece. I knew Hair loss was a possiblility and I was willing to lose it to lose weight and gain health, but it getting increasingly difficult to style what is left of my bangs creatively. So today I found this article from mayo that reassures me that I will get my hair back, however I disagree about the nutriention part as I have been all about my protien and Vitamins.< /p> If you are one of those people that seek to lose weight, there is something that you need to be made aware of. Rapid weight loss over the course of several weeks or months can lead to hair loss. Any type of Vitamin supplement everyday when you are trying to lose weight in order to replenish the nutrients that you may lose. Doctors also recommend keeping a healthy diet full of all the essential daily needs I also found this website that sells partial hair pieces that looks like it might help: http://www.paulayoung.com/category/hairpieces/top+%26+crown+integration+piece.do?nType=

sarsar 824 Posted June 15, 2011 Have either of you had your thyroid checked? I have low thyroid levels and the first sign that I need my meds tweaked is that my hair falls out like crazy and I lose my eyebrows. I do know Hair loss is a symptom of surgery so it will not surprise me if it happens to me bc of that but I just thought I'd ask if you have had your thyroid checked bc it seems far out to be losing hair.< /p>
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted June 15, 2011 Thanks for this My! I'm nine months out and just this morning as I was washing my hair it came out in huge clumps. It will slow down for awhile them *bam* I have several thousand strands hanging in my palm. It really sux! My hair used to be so full and thick and now it's thinned out a whole lot. Thank goodness I have a lot to keep it from looking too awful but still. I've always cherished my hair as being one of my best assets and now it's GONE!! I keep hearing it lasts only a few months but for me its never ending. I take multitudes of supplements and even Biotin (though it doesn't prevent it from coming out) but I'm beginning to believe my regrowth is even falling out. Thin, wow that scares me that you mention your hair is *still* falling out even though you have stopped losing. I was hoping that would be the case. Sheesh... Wheetsin 714 Posted June 15, 2011 I've lost hair with each of the two surgeries I"ve had. It seems to start around month 3, and stop around month 5 for me. Rapid weightloss (losing about 150 lbs in a year) has not seemed to impact it. For me, it seems mostly related to the anesthesia/surgery experience. Keep in mind that things like conditioner, which "lubricate" your hair, will make it seem worse. If you don't Shampoo your ahir every day, it will also seem worse on days you do. Some people with prolonged hairloss have reported some results with Nioxin (not a Minoxidil product). Iron deficiency can also be a big factor in hairloss. 1-4-Many 2 Posted June 15, 2011 A few days ago I had to multi-task as I got ready for work. I was sitting at the computer checking email and combing my hair after my morning shower. I had to get the sticky lint brush out to get all the hair off the front of my shirt. I took a long strip off and did my back as best I could because I was pretty sure the back of my shirt probably looked about as hairy as the front. I wouldn't even mind if I was losing weight really fast but I'm not. Or if only the gray fell out.

Eureka-C 20 Posted June 16, 2011 I am really hating the Hair loss. I was looking at some Vitamin info and overdoses of vit A as wel as (I think) selenium can contribute to hair loss. There are just too many factors. Sigh!
