Hi All-

I am on my first international business trip and I feel pretty crappy. I am a little over 3 months out and in my normal life, my stomach feels pretty good. The jetlag on this trip has been absolutely brutal. Also, when I eat in the morning and in the evening, I feel pretty bad. I re-timed my PPI so I am taking it in the morning, but Breakfast is AWFUL. I am eating yogurt with no chunks and it take about 30 minutes to get it down. I am relegated to yogurt because the thought of solid food in the morning makes my stomach turn. It feels like I am back at week #4. In the middle fo the day, it gets better. At night I am also uncomfortable.

Anyone else have this problem when they travel?

This, combined with the fact that I am not able to catch up on my sleep is making me pretty miserable. I am trying to see the silver lining - I am sure I'll drop a couple of extra pounds because I'm not eating as much :-) Also, I am drinking a little more Water than usual.

I always used to get absolutely hideous jet lag from going the eastward direction (not so bad going back -- now I don't get it anymore in either direction, not sure why). I once spent my first three days in the UK sleeping like someone had drugged me, I COULD NOT wake up. I also couldn't eat and was nauseated, which happened on several trips actually. Jet lag seriously messes with my stomach, so I am not surprised if that is worse after surgery. I think you are doing the right thing by focusing on hydrating and resting -- the food can slowly come back again when the stomach is feeling better again. Feel better!

Thanks, Swizzly--

Yeah, I have never been very good when I miss my sleep. Unfortunately, I have to keep normal work hours while I'm here and getting out of bed has been ridiculously hard.

Stomach = angry.

I think the sleeve has made it a little more complicated because of the way I eat. I have to eat at least 5 smal meals a day or else I will fall apart.

Thanks again!

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
