I hate both soups.. and i dont do cream of mushroom. Is Tomato Soup ok?? I didnt know if I had to have cream of Tomato or if regular campbells tomato was ok. I cant stand the cream of celery, cream of mushroom, or cream of chicken Soups And im sick of pudding and sweet stuff already Any ideas? Stay away from any thing tomato based for at least another month. Too acidic. At least that was my doctors warning. Pls make sure you take a ppi inhibitor, it will help with acid reflux. I have been meaning to write u, and say congrats. How r u doing with it all? Sounds like ur doing just fine. I still didnt hear from my surgeon, and I wont call him yet since I gained some weight. Anyway....keep up the good work!!! Talk soon I am making my own Soups. I start out with chicken thighs, tons of veggies,poultry seasoning and cook, cook, cook . Then I debone the chicken and put everythin into the blender, add some milk and blend until smooth. It tastes just like my homemade soup--just looks yucky. Try it. Wheetsin 714 Posted June 21, 2011 Of those listed, Tomato Soup probably has the highest chance of aggravating your stomach acids (tomatoes are very acidic). "Cream ofs" are usually prescribed because of their consistency, and sometimes because of the small bits on them (unless you've been told to strain them). On the cooking side, "Cream ofs" are Soups with cream in them - about .5 C per 1 C base, but that's just a guideline. So technically any Soup can be a "Cream of" soup. Thinned soups just means adding more liquid than called for, to Water them down (or milk them down, or whatever!) Does that help? I don't know if the VSG diet is any different, but on the AGB diet, when you could eat "cream of" soups, you could eat any soup with creamy consistency. Any soup + blender + water/milk = creamy consistency. If your tastes are more savory, try pureeing Campbell's Bean & Bacon soup, and strain out any pieces, and add some milk or Water to thin. There are lots of "Cream of" canned varieties you haven't mentioned. Shrimp, asparagus, onion, broccoli, etc. Have you tried any of those? Can you not have yogurt? Usually with bariatrics, "thick liquids" is a stage, and would normally include things like cream soups and yogurts. There are non-sweet yogurts out there (plain, or plain with a bit of honey blended in are yummy). I loooove to cook, and soups are one of my favorite things to make. What tastes do you like? I might be able to help you with some recipes. I gave up the creamed soups... for some reason the creaminess is a turn off to me and my tummy... I have been buying progresso lights and campbells select harvest soups and blending... my faves are the mexican style chicken tortilla, the sausage gumbo and I really wanna try the italian meatball.... Does this give u an idea of my flavors??? I would love some ideas!!! About the yogurt... I tried plain Fage and couldn't even swallow it.. The taste was gross. I love Chobani with the fruit mixed but I dont think I can have the seeds or mushy fruit chunks yet so I bought the plain last night hoping its better than the Fage... 1-4-Many 2 Posted June 22, 2011 I'd be real wary of Tomato Soup because tomatoes are something that can really trigger acid, and you do NOT want that right now You just have to be careful and see how it feels. That's what I thought but I asked my dietitian and they said that as long as it was made with milk it was fine. I had it several times and it didn't trigger any acid. My acid trigger was Peanut Butter. I rue the day I put that in my mouth. I've had acid reflux ever since........and I don't even like Peanut Butter. soccermom2011 0 Posted June 22, 2011 Hi there! Day#2? that's great! I am 11 days post-op.. How I got through the days right after surgery, was ordering wanton Soup, minus the wantons.. Try that for a difference. It is great that you could have the creamy soups- My 2week PostOp diet consisted of just clear broths, Protein shakes, and Crystal Light..
