I'm down about 80lbs total and almost 49 since surgery. I did have some swelling in my sleeve so I had to stay a few extra days but overall things went well. I had single site sleeve. Would definitely inquire about that. The surgery is all done through your belly button. 1 Nick'sMom reacted to this
katvo 5 Posted April 3, 2013 I am scheduled for surgery on April 29, 2013 with Dr. Lahmann at Silver Cross in New Lenox. I live in far south suburbs, near Monee. ruthie74 101 Posted April 5, 2013 Hi...I know this post is a few months old but I am currently in the process of waiting for my insurance papers to be submitted. My doctor is Dr. Chand. Did you have the surgery? Did you like Dr. Chand?
JennyBeth 127 Posted April 5, 2013 I had my surgery on 3-20 and was very happy with Dr. Chand. I would definitely recommend him. I really like the fact that Dr. Chand does not use drains post-surgery. Good luck with getting your approval!
ruthie74 101 Posted April 5, 2013 That's good to hear! I'm glad you had a good experience I have been waiting for my sleep study results to come in, it's been 3 weeks. They told me they are not sure what's going on and had me directly contact the sleep study people. I left them a message. I'm a little worried about it but I'm trying to be patient. So how is your weight loss and recovery? I hope you do t mind me asking. Did they remove the catheter before you woke from surgery? Or did they leave that in? I'm so nervous. JennyBeth 127 Posted April 5, 2013 I actually haven't weighed myself in a few days but last week I was down 14 pounds, but it was really more like 19 pounds because I gained 5 pounds in the hospital with all of the fluids. When you wake up the catheter is still in and it stays in until after you have your leak test done the next morning. You don't feel it and it is completely painless to have removed. Once it is removed you get up about every 30 minutes to go to the bathroom so enjoy the time that it is in and you can stay in bed! I ended up having to spend an extra night in the hospital because I couldn't swallow anything. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and had a lot of inflammation. When I would get up to go to the bathroom I would walk the hallways to avoid blood clots and you are given a shot of blood thinners every 12 hours. You don't get much rest in the hospital and I couldn't wait to go home! I also had an allergic reaction to the skin glue that Dr. Chand used during surgery which wasn't very fun, but it has gone away now. You can ask me anything, I don't mind. I returned to work on Monday which was a mistake-take as much time off as you can. I ended up doing just half days this week, but I'm still exhausted! ruthie74 101 Posted April 5, 2013 Jenny I have the hernia as well. Thanks so much for answering my questions! It's so nice to be able to talk to someone who has the same doc as me
JennyBeth 127 Posted April 6, 2013 I was also very pleased with Loyola hospital, too. They are extremely efficient and everything went as scheduled. I was scheduled for 8:30 surgery and had to be there by 6:30 and I think I was wheeled back at 8:32! They give you medication to calm your nerves which helped a lot!
