Hiya!

My name is Karen and I was sleeved on May 10th, by Dr. Nick Nicholson here in Dallas, TX. My recovery has been fairly uncomplicated and I have amazing support from my husband and family. I am a nurse and I went back to 12-hour shifts after two weeks. I still am not hungry and I have lost about 35lbs since pre-op. My husband jacked my scale and hid it from me because I was weighing myself everyday and I had a stall for about four days early on. I now weigh once a week (wednesdays) and I concentrate on the NSV's that seem to happen daily.

The decision to have this surgery has totally changed my life and I am so thankful that it actually happened! I was a cash pay and there were many times when I doubted that my sleeve would ever happen.

For anyone whose on the fence about this..get off on the right side and change your life for the better...forever. I am happier now than I have been in literally years!

Here's a pic of me four days into my pre-op diet and one that I took this past Friday! ( I hope these pics load!!)

Have a truly blessed day, my friends

Wow, congrats on the great NSV. I think sometimes those are what are really what makes the surgery worth while.

Congratulations Karen - you look wonderful!!! I celebrated one year yesterday! I've lost 94 lbs give or take a lb or two. I reached goal in just under five months. I too was a cash pay patient - and feel just like you do, it's the best thing I've ever done!

Someone suggested I take a picture every month on my anniversary for the first year....so I have. We bought a disposable camera and took the first picture the morning of surgery and have taken a pic the 11th of every month since then. We took the last picture yesterday and ran the camera up to Wal Greens. What a difference a year makes!!!! It's fun looking at my transformation!!!

My life has changed so much, I'm 51 yrs old and for the first time in my life, I LOVE TO GO SHOPPING. I use to buy clothes because I needed something, now it's fun. I am just now getting to the point that I feel comfortable tucking a shirt into jeans! Never in my life, even when I was 'small' back in HS did I tuck a shirt in...I wore a 9 then. Now I'm wearing size 4 and 6's in jeans!!!

Good luck to you.....I hope you have as easy a time. I love my sleeve...and highly recommend this surgery. It's been disgustingly easy for me!! BTW - I weigh every single day, I have since I got home from the hospital....I knew the scale would go up and down and would stall. I knew that I was following the 'plan' and it would move again....I just had to keep an eye on it, now I do because I don't want to lose any more and if I start to gain, I want to nip it in the bud! I know how you feel about your cheekbones, one of the most exciting things that happened initially was when I could see my collarbone!!!!!!!!!!! Cheekbones, collarbone....my legs feel boney some times and I have hip bones and I can actually feel my ribs. It's soooo weird, in a good way!!

Enjoy the journey.....it's a blast!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
