honeydue28 0 Posted June 12, 2011 Does anyone know if having an infant will be a problem getting the sleeve? I'm in the very beginning of journey but my youngest daughter is 9 month old and I'm not sure if that is too soon after childbirth to get the surgery done. TijuanaPlication 87 Posted June 12, 2011 That sounds OK but I think you'd have to check with your surgeon to be sure. Conversely losing weight should help getting pregnant in the future if you wish to have more kids.
ybnormal 21 Posted June 13, 2011 LOL When I saw your topic I was like "wth?! Who in their right mind would perform surgery on an infant?!" mkay, dumb blond moment over now! If you're not breast feeding I don't see it as a problem but yeah, a surgeon would know more about it. Renee`
Tiffykins 673 Posted June 13, 2011 Unless you are dealing with some sort of hormonal issues, breastfeeding or post-partum depression, you're far enough out from childbirth to have surgery. The concern would be lifting a small child/toddler soon after surgery. Most surgeons put patients on a 6 week lifting restriction to avoid incisional hernias/hematomas. smacbeth 0 Posted June 15, 2011 I was wondering about this too, my son will be 6 months July 8th, and I'm set to have surgery July 27th. My doctor said to wait 6 months after child birth to have surgery... my concern is the lifting him... I'm a single mom and i think its going to be hard to get around with him. Luckly, his dad is taking him for a week post op so I can have some time to heal baby free
Leslie 14 Posted June 15, 2011 My son will be 1 on 7/22. That is just ten days after my sleeve. My doc said that I have to wait 2 weeks and then I can lift him without any problem. 6 weeks sound like a long time to me. I have had my gallbladder out laproscopically too and that was also a two week return to work and I was a pramedic/firefighter!
honeydue28 0 Posted June 15, 2011 Thanks for your replies ladies. My daughter is still breast feeding but it's mostly comfort now that she started solids.
