I can say honestly I have ZERO regrets! I am living life and loving it now! It is only a tool, you have to be committed to change and health to make it work for you.

For me, I wish I had done it 20 years ago!

How about 75lbs to lose? Met my surgeons goal in 5 months. My life is incredible, I can't believe it still. I feel great! I look great.

The sleeve is wonderful, best thing I ever did for myself. I wish I had done this earlier and younger like you. Being worried is normal, this is surgery with the normal risks. I am sure you have chosen a good surgeon. Please feel free to ask any questions we are here to root you on. Best of luck Monday!

thank you ... i really want to but i feel like iam the one person getting it just to lose 65-70lbs?

I think it boils down to height/weight ratio and health status. The most important thing is that it allows you to keep it off!

I too only needed to lose 65-70 pounds. I was sleeved on March 10th. So far, I have lost 54 pounds. I can tell you that, although the first few weeks were hard, it is absolutely the best gift I have given myself! I was a "self pay" because I was not heavy enough to qualify for approval through insurance. It was definitely worth every penny! :D

When I started the pre op diet I weighed 206 and my goal is 140 so that is right there with you at 66lbs. :) I was 240 last June 2010 and wasn't sure if it was going to happen then but was determined to lose some weight. So over all my goal was to lose 100 but by the time I was able to be sleeved (4/27/2011) it was to lose 66lbs.

I started out having about 75 lbs to lose with "controlled" hypertension and I questioned the surgery also. I like you have not been overweight my whole life, especially not obese. I have only become obese in the last 5 years. But I am so glad I had the surgery! I tried and tried to get the weight off in numerous ways but it just was not working for me. I would starve myself, exercise like crazy and if I was lucky I would lose 1 or maybe 2 pounds and then just give up because it was not worth it. And I felt like I needed a tool to not only help me lose the weight but keep it off. I decided to do something about my condition before I abused my body beyond it's limits. I wanted to prevent the diabetes, heart disease (Dad), stroke (Mom), etc. It is normal to question your decision. People have come to me and ask if I would recommend the surgery to others or if I have regrets. I tell them I have NO regrets but I would personally only recommend this surgery to those who are desperate and ready to change. That's just my personal opinion. I find eating healthy much easier on this side of the surgery. Wishing you the best with your decision! Keep us updated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
