Kasie 4 Posted June 11, 2011 My approval came way before I thought it would - my date is June 29th I have a week long camping trip planned - leaving July 24-Aug 1...we are not planning on really hiking or anything - just short walks, swimming in a pool, do you think this is too much too soon? From what I have read on here people seem to be feeling pretty good 4 weeks out - would you have done this? It will just be me and the kids the first 5 days (age 10 &7) and then the hubby is coming down -
chilo1 62 Posted June 11, 2011 If everything goes to plan (no complications) you should be fine by 4 weeks, I don't think they advice you to swim though, I don't remember timeframe for swimming. At 2 weeks out I was feeling perfectly well, my baby got baptised on my 2 week mark, so I did quite a lot actually that early out, I guess it just depends on each individual, good luck
NewBeginnings 2 Posted June 11, 2011 Kasie I dont have the answer but I was wondering something similar myself. My approval came earlier than planned and at exactly 8 weeks I will be on a 7 day cruise. I didnt know there were any swimming restrictions. I am planning on being in the ocean. Now I'm scared. Stacy160 201 Posted June 12, 2011 Heck yeah, I'd have camped at four weeks out -- if it hadn't been the end of February! We camp a LOT. Just make sure you take plenty of stuff that's part of whatever food phase you're in, that's either ready-made or easily warmable over the fire (or gas stove, if you use one of those). Activity-wise, you'll be fine hiking around. I'd even get in the Water, just maybe not play too vigorously. I dunno, different docs have different restrictions for exercise... mine pretty much cleared me for anything at 4 weeks. Have FUN!!
kids05 4 Posted June 12, 2011 Medically speaking, the Water restriction is usually until all your incisions are healed over. (no scabs) so you should probably be ok. Just check with your MD. At the worst, you can wade and splash around a little. The drain incision seems to heal the slowest...so if you have one, thats the one to watch> Good luck and I hope you're feeling great for your trip! Amanda131 214 Posted June 13, 2011 It's definitely doable but you may still be pretty tired. I was exhausted until about midweek four. That may make wrangling the kiddos on your own kind of difficult. Good luck! Amanda
marymoon 18 Posted June 13, 2011 We're avid tent campers and my first trip out was around 2 weeks post-surgery with my son's Cub Scout den. I felt totally fine, just be sure to avoid heavy lifting. We've been on 3 family camping trips since then, including a week long stay last week and I just returned from taking my Girl Scout troop out this weekend. If you're already used to the routines of setting up camp you should be fine.
