Getting Sleeved Tomorrow-In TJ Baby!!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting and regretting for the last 4 months. I have mixed feelings if you haven't figured that out by now. :( I am happy to have my daughter with me. She has really helped me get through the liquid part of this. We have been vacationing in San Diego for the last 4 days. I started my liquid faze on Tuesday at 2 pm. Did really well yesterday, until 8 pm last night, I ordered a salad and ate 1/2 of it. But that is the last of my splurging! Do you think that will hurt? I am not sure what time they will schedule me for Friday.

Anyone else going to have their surgery Friday in TJ with Dr. Almanza? Plz let me know so we can be buddies!

You will do great, I had my surgery with Dr. Almanza on May 25th and it was great. It is hard to vacation in San Diego while you are on a liquid diet, I had to watch my wife eat two large lobster tails while I was there on my liquid diet. Just relax and let them take care of you, he does about 150 of these sleeves a month so they know what they are doing. You need to follow their directions and it will go very smoothly for you. Their staff will really take care of you and your daughter while you are at the clinic and recovery house so you do not need to worry about anything. Enjoy your experience.

You think it's hard vacationing in San Diego on a liquid diet? Try living here! I've lived here since I was in high school. I know every single great place to eat and I can't go to any of them. I just keep telling myself that it's worth it. haha

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
