I am so nervous :( My surgery is tomorrow at 300pm and i have to be there at 130. I absolutely HATE how its in the middle of the day.. as if i need all morning and afternoon to think about it!

I really feel anxious and i dont like it...... I even considered cancelling last night.. ok i know, very stupid thought that soon went away but you get what im tryin to say. I hate hospitals, never been in one other than 3 times in my life and that was to see other ppl.

I am so sad that my family wont be here with me. blah..... Im tryin to get in the spirit, and I cant. :(

Tamz, in all honesty I got pretty quiet the night before as a calm settled over me. I was scared spitless inside at first but then I was just ok, I can't explain it. If you weren't nervous and reaching for the phone to cancel and then struggling to hold yourself back, I'd be worried about you! LOL What you're going through is completely normal.

Be excited...the new you starts tomorrow. Relax, take a walk, call some friends or go shopping in the morning and look in a section that you never have before. Dreams are about to come true. Smile - good things are happening!

Tamz,

Say a quick prayer and put yourself in God's hands. He never fails. So as soon as you are able, please get back on this thread and let us know that your procedure went beautifully and you've began your new life. I'll be waiting to hear from you :)

Why the sad face after your title?? It should be tomorrow it is...:D:D:D:D!

It's normal to be nervous but please be happy!:D Tomorrow is the day you have been waiting for! This is great news. The surgery is later in the day and that's ok. Try to sleep in if you can. Take the time to breathe deeply and really relax yourself. You can do it, you will be just fine. Think happy thoughts tonight. I was nervous the day before and then, I too, had a calm come over me and I was just fine when I woke up in the morning.

See you on the losers bench!;)

Don't worry - I wasn't jumping up and down with excitement either. I was nervous, but resigned to the fact that it was the right thing to do. I just made up my mind that I was going to push all those feelings away and distract myself. I really just pretended it wasn't happening, until they came to get me and then I got very choked up as it became so real! Luckily I was then knocked out very quickly!

Here's the good part: After you wake up and realize that you're okay, you get a chance to focus on all the great things that happen next. It was a real delayed reaction for me...after a couple of days went by and nothing was wrong and I felt okay, it was suddenly like "Oh wow, I'm going to lose all this weight!" lol - THEN I got excited. Of course I'd thought about all that already, but my nerves about the surgery had been taking control. Just get through it and take care of yourself. It's okay to be nervous or even a little sad beforehand. Any feelings you have are okay - just don't cancel, and remember that soon you'll be looking forward to the next bit!

I'm here to research VSG, I don't have it yet -- but I do have an AGB.

The day of my AGB surgery (my fiurst surgery, BTW) was the closest I have come in my life to a panic attack. I got to the hospital OK, got admitted, got to the prep area, changed into my gown, all OK. A little nervous, but mostly about the IV (also my first). After changing into the gown and walking back to the bed -- I froze. I couldn't get into the bed. You could have lit the floor under me on fire and I would have stood there & burned sooner than getting into that bed, I literally couldn't move. I very seriously contemplated calling the whole thing off. I couldn't breathe, and just started trembling & crying - almost unheard of for me. Good thing my husband was there to help me rationalize. I got into the bed, got the IV & hooked up to the monitor and my heartrate was something like 185! They asked if I wanted something to calm me down, I said YES - and poof. MUCH better. Moral of the story - tell them you're nervous up front, and get medical help. Gotta love the Versed, that wonderful Milk of Amnesia. They understand, and it's in everyone's best interest for you to be as relaxed as possible. They will help you.

Second surgery (gall bladder removal) - totally different story. My mentality was "gotta do it" and I was almost ambivalent to it. No nerves, no anxiety, just a desire to be done with it. I was telling the nurse a recipe as they rolled me in, and I clearly remeber them telling me they were going to start my oxygen and saying, "See ya on the other side." Then I wake up to a bit of pain, and a nurse wanting me to finish giving her the recipe. :)

Try to really focus in on the things you will gain from the procedure. I find that's often the greatest comfort.

YAY Tamz! I'm so excited for you and your new start on life. I knew you could do it! The nausea I had for the day of surgery and then on into a little bit in the early morning. Just ask for something for nausea and they'll give you something in the I.V., this also may help you sleep, which you need to do if you're not walking. Hard to walk with a bedpan in your hand while you're dry heaving. First hand experience...don't ask! LOL

Chin up girl, you did it! You have my phone number if ya need to talk.

XOXO Renee`

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
