Restrictive Lung Disease???

Recommended Posts

im hoping you can give me some advice, or your thoughts....i am scheduled to have gastric sleeve on the 23rd. Did all my tests. Had a pulmonary test yesterday and the dr said i expel only about 56% of the air in my lungs. but my o2 sat was at 98%. But he is having me do a PFT on the 15th ( the soonest appt available ) and i am just soo scared that they might cancel my surgery. I have shortness of breath when i walk upstairs, sleep apnea, hypertension, and gallstones. I am 116lbs over weight and have been overweight forever. I have an 8 year old autistic son that needs me and i want to be healthy for him. HELP! im soooo worried! He said to get in the soonest so it won't affect my surgery. He thinks that it is just caused by my weight which is primarily all in my gut. Anyone go through this?? And still had the surgery?

I think probably a lot of people that are overweight suffer from this and are just not told OR they're not even tested for it in the first place. I really wouldn't worry about this a whole lot because it sounds like the doctor thinks the surgery will fix it. To me, that's exciting!

I don't have this exact problem but I have cold induced asthma. It's rare that it flares up. I have to be doing an open Water swim in the bay... then I need some puffs. But the MD was sitll very interested and mostly they just monitored it. I took my inhaler to hospital and then they brought in a specialiste every few hours to have me take some puffs. I think they just want to be very cautious which I think it's a good thing. In terms of results, once you have the test done, they can fax results asap! The MD's nurse gets on them for you if they drag thier feet. Hang tight. Don't despair. They are just being carefull! Best of luck with your journey!!!

I have small airway obstruction. I still had the surgery, but they needed to know all they could about my condition before putting me under. It helps the anethesiologist with monitoring stats and knowing what "happy meds" to put in your IV. You should be fine ... but better to know before surgery than have an emergency during the surgery!

Best of luck.

I have sleep apnea and also a small breathing obstruction, this was no problem for my surgeon. They just made sure they had a machine set for my usage immediately after my surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
