pyt1908 1 Posted June 8, 2011 Is it normal to not be excited and consumed with worry before surgery? I have been a blubbering fool worried about all of the what "ifs" related to complications, even though I have an excellent surgeon and a designated 1A hospital. I am worried about the anastesia and of course the possibility of not returning home to my kid. Any words of encouragement?
singand_dance 8 Posted June 8, 2011 Of course its normal! I'm having the same feelings right now, my surgery is in 2 weeks. You'll do fine! You've done your research and you now must have faith in your surgeon. Always remember, he really doesn't want anything to go wrong... just like you. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow! See you on the loser's bench!
iegal 460 Posted June 8, 2011 Normal. Now if you had not done your research, then you fears might be well founded. Get some great rest tonight because tomorrow there is a new you! Good luck.
Marie from Michigan 11 Posted June 8, 2011 I was scared too. I just kept telling myself that being morbidly obese was also a death sentence, just way slower. I took comfort in the fact that my Doctor has done hundreds of these surgeries and to him it was just "routine." Have faith and you will be fine!
Dansha 16 Posted June 8, 2011 We all went thru the "what ifs" It is perfectly normal. What helped me was staying focused and positive Also what keep me calm was my belief in GOD. YOU WILL BE FINE!!!!! We will be thinking about you tomorrow. Good luck and best wishes on the new you. Deb

wannabskinee 0 Posted June 8, 2011 I hope so b/c I am having surgery tomorrow too and I feel the exact same way. Lots of Anxiety!! Where are you having your surgery? I'm having mine in New Orleans. It's very hard saying goodbye to all the good food and drink indefinately. But getting healthy is first. KIT Is it normal to not be excited and consumed with worry before surgery? MSanti 52 Posted June 8, 2011 It's very normal. I was completely at ease the day before my surgery but the day of my surgery while in the waiting room I started feeling some anxiety, but everything went well and I don't regret this one bit!!
Rev Me Up! 75 Posted June 8, 2011 I had terrible anxiety before surgery. It si perfectly normal. Don't worry, once you get started with the surgery, you will be on lots of meds and you won't worry about anything :-)
Roseib 13 Posted June 8, 2011 Yes as others said its normal. Will be sending positive thoughts your way today and tonight. Once you get to hospital it goes so quickly not much time to be anxious. I just remember going through the operating room doors. Then a second later I was in recovery - or so it seemed.
