I was sleeved yesterday. I am feeling a lot better than I thought I would. Just sore in the tummy. Yesterday was rest/sleep day. By mid afternoon, I was up walking in the hall. Walked all the way around the hall this morning at 3:00 a.m. I got rid of some extra stuff including the NG tube. That was not bad but was glad to get rid of it.

I get to go home in the morning. I am ready. Sipping apple juice and ice chips. No nausea or vomiting. This is suppose to get better everyday and I feel very fortunate/blessed to have had it as easy as I have. I have a 2 1/2 hour ride tomorrow and that might be a little rough, but I will be home and will rest then.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers during this time. Keep is up.

Neanie

I am very blessed that my recovery is going great as well. I would suggest a small pillow to put next to your stomach on your ride home. A little pressure with the pillow helps a lot. Congratulations on your new life.

Hi,

I was also sleeved on the 6th. I can honestly say I was not prepared for the amount of pain that I had on that day. I was extremely nauseous from the anesthesia and had to get up every half hour to go to the bathroom because they were pumping me with so much Fluid. The medical staff were great and were trying to make me as comfortable as possible. I experienced horrible pain that night when I felt extreme pressure in the area of my rib cage. I did not know what it was and then all of a sudden this tiny burp came out and I was like OMG, it's pent up gas :) I seem to be experiencing it most when I am moving from lay down to sit up position and sometimes even a hiccup (which hurts). I am not sure if I am being a whimp about the pain or if I am just different. I previously have had 2 c-sections and a hernia repair and this seems the worst. Well, even though I have pain I do not regret my decision and am looking forward to being able to move with ease.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
