twoboysandagirl 109 Posted June 7, 2011 Today I turned 34! I am six months out and below goal. I completely avoid junk food (other than Pita chips) and that includes all sweets. So how do I Celebrate? What do you do special for your birthday POST SURGERY?
Rootman 1,101 Posted June 7, 2011 GO SOMEWHERE AND DO SOMETHING other than just go out to eat or throw a party. Make it an EVENT rather than a meal. If you do go out and have a life partner see if they are willing to share an entree between you as a meal. And Happy birthday! Congrats on the weight loss. M2G 1,836 Posted June 7, 2011 If you want a healthy treat check out something from Eggface. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/06/protein-ice-cream-birthday-cake.html

For me personally, I had a super small piece of cake on my birthday, and enjoyed it very much! Definitely make it about the birthday and NOT the food. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Tiffykins 673 Posted June 7, 2011 I don't avoid any foods now that I'm in maintenance. For my birthday this last year, my husband took me to The Melting Pot. I had copious amounts of wine, food, and cheesecake, rice krispy treats and fruit covered in white chocolate LOL. Then I went out dancing and enjoying copious amounts of rum and cokes. . . I like the idea of doing a special day just for you like a massage or spa day if you're still restricting certain foods. I party like a rockstar (on occasion) when I'm not pregnant, and that's what I considered normal life post-op.
twoboysandagirl 109 Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks Tiffykins for responding...I am very nervous about returning to old habits and so far I have not allowed myself to eat much outside my program restrictions. I know that I need to change the way I eat because I can't continue to lose forever. I told my husband the other day that I have to find that happy place where I can just eat and not stress about if the scale will go up the next day. Are you afraid of regaining weight? I am just very anxious that I will be one of those who lost the weight but then regain it later. I didnt work this hard to lose the weight for just a year or two. I want to stay this size for life. And in the past any time I lost weight I gained it back so maybe I am just going on what I've experienced in the past and I know that this time things are different but I cant wrap my head around it...Does any of that make sense? I appreciate your words of wisdom Tiffy more than you know. Blessings I don't avoid any foods now that I'm in maintenance. For my birthday this last year, my husband took me to The Melting Pot.
