Thankyou Mr. Tape Measure

Recommended Posts

I've have been stalling so frequently that I have really been down in the dumps lately. These past two months I would lose a few pounds and for the remainder of that week and the next week I would just bounce up and down with the pounds I'd lost on the scales. Then I will lose a few more and do the same thing for two weeks again. It really can be nerve wrecking, but thank goodness I measured in the beginning to let me know that I am progressing no matter what the scales say! These are my measurements and inches lost.

03/18/2011

neck 17.25

arms 19/19

bust 55.5

waist 54

belly button/lower waist 56

hips 59

thighs 35/35

calves 19.25/19.25

06/06/2011

neck 15 (2.25 inches)

arms 17/17 (4 inches)

bust 48(7.5 inches)

waist 46 (8 inches)

belly button/lower waist 48 (8 inches)

hips 54(5 inches)

thighs 29/29 ( 12 inches)

calves 17/17 (4.5 inches)

You think that you are big now until you look back and see just how BIG you actually were!!! Like a whole 51.25 inches BIGGER..... LOL

Great perspective!!! I love it!

Congratulations on losing the inches..wow,,, tape measure doesnt lie!!!B)

You are doing great - try to only weigh yourself once a week....hold off as hard or tempting as it may be, hold off for one full week..... if avoids the ups & downs that you see when you weigh yourself so frequently.

Yay for you! That's great and incredibly inspiring. I didn't measure before the surgery, but I'm only 2 weeks out. I think it might be time to get out the tape for future reference! :D

On the scale issue, I had to ask my hubby to hide it from me and just take it out on Saturday mornings. I just couldn't stay off of it in the mornings and if I had gone up even a tenth of a pound...it ruined my day! I never did measure but I can tell by the way my clothes fit me that I have lost inches.

Keep up the great work everyone!!

I've been in a severe funk... stalled for my 4th week... I lost 9lbs the month of May.. UGH ... but i've lost 2 inches around my waist since 4/6 .. Who knows maybe it'll turn around for me... but I do Thank GOD for Tiffykins who sent me a great email I just got today when I logged on.. I am just at the frame of mind that I don't know what is right to eat and what isn't and if I lose I lose if I don't, I tried.. .but one way or another i'm down almost 60 lbs and I'm no longer a diabetic so thats a plus.. :)

But seriously my brain is tired of trying to figure this all out LOL

So happy for everyone's accomplishments... SO PROUD of you all... :) KICK SOME SERIOUS BUTT!!! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
