First off, does anyone else get the hiccups when they eat/drink? This is driving me nuts.

Also, I've been experiencing periods of extreme sweating before my meals. Blood sugar & blood pressure are fine, but I break out in this miserable sweat & get so nauseous. Anyone else experiencing this and if so, how long until it stopped? I'm 11 days post op. Thx.

No to the sweating. Yes to the hiccups. When I get that one hiccup I stop eating. That is my signal I'm done eating. I find that is my cut off point. I do not eat till I'm stuffed. I feel satisfied with my one hiccup. Don't know if that will be a forever thing or just temporary. Don't know if that helps or not.

No to the sweating as well. I would've said watch your blood sugars had you not said they were okay. I'd contact your surgeon about that one. But definately yes to the hiccups. They are my full signal as well. My kids have even caught on. " mom!! Stop eating your tummy is yelling at you!!"

Yes to hiccups, also when I have eaten enough! I am 10 months postop and actually I consider I have overeaten once I start hiccuping. I prefer to stop before they arrive.

Your sweating is possibly related to vagus nerve stimulation.

Hiccups are a bad sign for me as I always throw up a few minutes after they start. Fortunately I have learned how to detect the subtle "full" pressure and have only overeaten to the point of hiccuping/vomiting a handful of times. Never had the sweating thing thankfully!

I'm about 19.5 months out now and I still get hiccups occasionally, if I eat a bit too much. For some reason chicken = easy hiccups for me... But I get hiccups perhaps twice a month for less than five minutes at a time, so it's not a problem. Good luck: it's VERY early days for you yet!
