Discouraged and disappointed

LOL!!

I love pork! that totally just made me spit my tea! It is true tho, if you compare your weight loss to something, you really get a feel for how much you "REALLY" have lost. You might not think 50lbs is a big deal, but go lift a fifty pound bag of dog food and see how heavy that is! Or a ten pound bag of potatoes, it really does put it into perspective!

It really does work. I lost about 100 lbs between the band and personal effort prior and I love the meat department. It was a good day when I discovered they don't put that much pork loin out for sale at one time. ;) I'll start over for the 70-80 left that I hope to lose with the sleeve.

Seriously though, if we gain that much weight, we'd be all over the negative self talk, mirror scrutinizing and self loathing. Let it work the other way around. It can't be one and NOT be the other. 47 lbs IS a big deal.

47 lbs~ you are doing amazing! If you can’t quite see it in the mirror yet, just think of all the visceral fat that’s probably disappearing from the inside…off your heart, kidneys, etc. Your health has already improved drastically, the hot bod will soon follow!

The smaller you get, the fewer pounds it takes to equal a change in clothing size. Hang in there, keep the faith. There is NO WAY to lose 47 lbs and it NOT be noticable. Trust me on that.

I was going to mention this too... its really true! Before you know it you will be blowing through the sizes. I didn't measure until I had my first stall, and really wish I had done it sooner... but I have seen loss in inches. You should measure... take about 6 places, and just check that every two weeks or so. You will see where you are losing it in numbers, if not in the mirror. Congrats on your weight loss so far!

I'm totally jealous of you.............in a good way!! Clothes are fitting better, shoes are comfy and weight is creeping off! I've been in a stall for 3 weeks now and about to lose my mind (of course, I probably can't even lose THAT either! )

It is okay to whine...but not to get discouraged. I am impressed by your weight loss! Keep on track and before you know it the weight will be gone. You will dance naked in front of the mirror, you will hold out an old pair of pants and be thrilled.

Wishing you the best and looking forward to a victory post soon. The sleeve works.

I don't think there's anything that I can say that someone else hasn't voiced already. At 47lbs lost, I'm sure you have a difference and just aren't able to see it yourself. Remember that everyone feels this way. It's a battle within ourselves. It's a battle that we'll fight for a long time. Keep strong and know that you will emerge victorious. Heck, you already have!

Go to the grocery store. Line up 47 lbs of pork loin or some other fatty, squishy meat. Look at it. Look at it hard. Touch it. Heck, hold a few up against your body. Try to lift it if you can. THAT is what is no longer on your frame. It makes it tangible. Do it. It is awe inspiring and self esteem building. If people stare, screw 'em. Or just wink and say "DAMN I love pork!"

Heeheehee!! Too funny!!! I did the same thing but with pounds of butter!!!

One would think I could see it. And I can in my face...sometimes. But I can't tell in my body...I keep asking Hubby "Is my body changing? Am I really losing weight??" I think he's getting sick of my obsession.

I went down 1 size (barely) in shirts....the seat of my pants in baggy but still fits around the waist (and is a bit snug actually)

I thought that after losing a good amount of weight I'd feel better about myself, and about how I look (which is odd because I totally did this for my health and not for my looks blink.gif) I am just not seeing enough change...sad.gif

I also feel like my weight in crawling off and I want it to FLY off. That may be an unrealistic dream. I don't know. I started out in a TIGHT size 26. I might be able to wear a 24, I haven't really tried that size yet. I'm squeezing into 2x tops because...well I don't know...maybe I think if I WILL it it won't look like I'm a sausage ready for the grill?

I only have 1 bra that still fits...it's black...I wore a white T-shirt to church today rolleyes.gif

Hubby dug through a drawer this afternoon and found 2 more bras that were too tight 6 months ago but now they fit ok...they are also black...and one of them makes me look like my boobs are attached to my chin. ohmy.gif

My dress shoes fit better today...guess that's good, I've lost weight in my feet. I betcha no one's ever paid attention to my feet...except the people who get the unpleasant job of fixing them up and shaving callouses off after I've neglected them for months. unsure.gif

So I have gone down 1 size in bras...and 1 size in shirts so long as I don't plan to inhale exhale or otherwise move. I could claim that my jeans are "Hammer Pants" But my feet look totally skinny and Hot!dry.gifsad.gif

Hello. I am new here and this is my first post. I am booked to have the vertical sleep op on 12th August this year.

What I have discovered in UK sizes is that the difference between a UK 10 and UK 12 may only be 1 or 2 inches. However, the difference between a UK 22 and UK 24 is 3 or 4 inches. Therefore, to drop a clothes size in the larger sizes, you have to lose a lot more weight than to drop a clothes size in the smaller sizes.

I could never understand how celebs would say, "oh I have put on 5lbs and can't fit into my clothes". If I put on 5lbs there wasn't any difference in my clothes.

Another thing - Pavarotti once lost 6 stone and nobody noticed!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
