Nancy Rivers 24 Posted June 5, 2011 I haven't been sleeved yet, but what you are feeling is completely normal. Many people here have had nerves before the surgery and have had the second thoughts. I don't have a date yet, and I am nervous and am constantly second guessing myself. Just remember the reasons why you wanted to have this surgery. Chances are good that you have been trying to loose your extra weight many times in the past, so you know that just simply dieting won't work. The sleeve is a tool that you can use to help you loose the weight forever by assisting you in changing your "bad" habits into good and healthier habits. It's not a magic bullet, but I suspect you already know that. You have made a commitment to change your life and become healthier for a reason. Remember that reason. Keep repeating your reasons to yourself over and over again. It really does help with the nerves. I know it helps me. By the way, congratulations on making the decision and getting to this point. Good luck with the surgery.
loosing.it.in.2011 0 Posted June 6, 2011 I had my sleeve done on January10th. I am 5'6" and weighed 220 lbs. I have yo-yo dieted for years and keep gaining it back every time. My problem was with Portion Control. I am now almost 5 months post op and have lost 64 lbs. I would like to get to 135 but only have 2.5 lbs to go to make it to the high end of a Normal BMI/Weight. I honestly feel like I will be able to keep the weight off this time and that the sleeve has given me a tool that will last me the rest of my life. I know this is a HUGE step and I also felt the same way you do. I have never had a hard time loosing weight - it has just been keeping it off. With the sleeve I now know I will be able to be successful. I feel so much better physically and mentally knowing the weight has been lifted of my entire body. I wish you success and hope you will feel comfortable with your decision and be able to move forward with peace of mind. Take care.
