Chicadee 10 Posted June 5, 2011 Friday was my 1 month surgiversary and my husband has been dieing to go out to dinner for awhile now since I haven't been able to go since like 2 months before I had the surgery. He wanted Olive garden. My normal meal here used to consist of the sampler for an app, the salad, the bread sticks and usually either the tour of italy (lasagna, alfredo and chick parm combo) or the chicken parmigiana dinner. I used to pray that I would get a table with one of the chairs with no arms cause otherwise I would be squished in the chair the whole time. It's funny because my husband knows how I am about the chair thing too so we were both looking to see what chairs were at the table. The table we walk up to has all chairs with arms on them. I sat down and was still a bit big for the chair but I was actually comfortable sitting in it. My husband and I laughed. We didn't order any appetizers, I didn't eat any breadsticks. I did have about 5 bites of salad and some croutons. I ordered the chicken marsala instead of the chicken parm since there is no breading and I asked for a to go box as soon as the waiter brought the entree. There were three pieces of chicken on my plate and I ended up eating 3/4 of one piece, put the rest away, had like 3 pieces of roasted potato and a few pieces of mushroom and packed the rest up. The waiter of course asked me if I didn't like my meal and I laughed to myself. Everything went down well and nothing made me feel sick which is a bonus because food has been hit or miss lately. I felt great afterwards and was happy to be able to go out to dinner again.
kellyw74 258 Posted June 5, 2011 That is great to hear! I am happy that you were able to fit in the chair too!! Good NSV! Good idea on ordering the box with your meal, that way, you don't eat too much! SMART! I look forward to the day when I can go out to eat again too! KathyM 14 Posted June 5, 2011 Feels great doesn't it? Eating out can be a little stressful at first, but you will soon find what works for you. I usually end up just ordering off of the appetizer menu - I am totally a cheap date now! Congrats on your sleeve, you will be so happy that you did this for yourself and you soon will be sliding into booths and chairs without even giving it a second thought! I can remember always asking for a table, because I knew I would have to cram myself into a booth, and now there isn't anywhere I can't sit! Kathy
