I am reading contradicting articles on the internet about how much Protein your body can absorb in one sitting. Does anyone know the answer to this? I am reading that your body can only absorb 30 grams of protein in on sitting and the rest turns into fat and it makes it hard for your kidneys to have more than 30 grams at a time.

What are your thoughts on this?

I have heard that...but I also doubt most people take a long time to drink their protein! Mine in the morning has 45 but I spend two hours for sure drinking it too so I don't know what to think.

The amount of Protein in excess to convert to fat is negligible for us VST. Now pre op that could be a worry but post op we can only eat so much so it will be utilized before it is converted to sugar and then onto fat. If it is converted to fat we are in the fat burning mode so it would also be utilized.

My Protein Drink this morning had 20 grams, I then added 40 grams with 2 scoops of Unjury. All of that was added to 16 oz. of Water. So in that drink it is safe to say that I absorbed all 60 grams? It makes sense not to worry about the fat bc we are burning fat right now.

They gave us that stat a few months ago in the support meeting and it was not that much, something like 20 grams. Sorry, I don't remember what they said but I do remember they were talking about eating 6 times a day (which I can't do yet) and to try and get 10 grams per meal as that was the best way for your body to adsorb it. The amount you can absorb was more than 10, they were just using it as an example. I want to know too so it's another question for me to ask.

Is Unjury 20 grams a scoop? WOW! I have some arriving Monday - have always used the packets before and they are 21 a packet so I assumed it was 10 a scoop. That's great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
