cludgie 81 Posted June 3, 2011 Ok, so I am starting to think I am actually broken in some manner! I have only lost 6lb this month, and despite being so good I have gained back 2lb of that in the last 2 days! I still have 30lb to goal, but feel like I will never get there now. Foxbins 625 Posted June 3, 2011 We are almost the same bmi and had surgery at almost the same time. I only lost 4 lbs last month and I am doing everything I am supposed to. I don't think we are broken, and I think your two pounds is Water weight and will come off soon. In my case, I think I need to add some more muscle to burn more calories when I am not running, and I need to run more. I am doing less than 10 miles a week and I need to ramp it up and add some weight lifting. We can get to goal, we're just not going to be the "lost 90 lbs. in six months" folks. coops 1,790 Posted June 3, 2011 Cludgie... try not to worry. Thie YEAR I have only lost 13lb!!!!! I am nearly 11mths out now and I really hoped that I would be a goal or near goal at this stage *sighs* You've done soooo well so far... I think it is your body just having a little time out! Hopefully the scale will move again for you. When you feel a little down, just remember you little holdiay and how great you felt after it!! cludgie 81 Posted June 4, 2011 Thanks folks, I guess I am horrifically impatient, and my mood is all over the place at the moment, mid week I was literally buzzing because I hit the 50lb mark, and within a couple of days I'm devastated because I've slid backwards again. I guess it doesn't help that I just feel so fat at the moment (irrational, I know) so because I feel rubbish I want some moral support from the scales to keep me bolstered, which isn't happening either! GRRR! Thanks for listening to my rant though, nowhere else on earth would anyone understand his frustration!
Raine 170 Posted June 5, 2011 I think you are doing great! I think those of us with a lower BMI and less weight to lose tend to lose it slower. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and have been in a stall for 3 of those! I'm trying not to sweat it too much because I know it will turn around but it will take time. mandyslife 0 Posted June 5, 2011 I had surgery in March and have lost 50 lbs.. The past month has been very slow for weight loss.. I'm chalking it up to not exercising enough. I know it's hard, I've had many bad days but it will get better!! You have done wonderful so far and will continue to do so!
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted June 5, 2011 Cludgie, DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP!!! Simply put, the closer you get to goal the harder it is to get there. The weight loss for me has slowed down a lot! I have to workout 2x as hard as I did in the beginning to continue to get results. I too only lost 6 Lbs last month - so in the last few weeks I've bumped up my workouts. It's coming off better this month now and I have already lost 5 Lbs this month (I mean in the last 2 weeks). So with one more week on my good time to lose part of the month I will surpass the 6 Lbs lost from last month by all accounts. It's probably just time to shake things up - workout harder, or longer; be more diligent with eating habits or whatever you might be able to improve on. For me I really haven't changed much in the way of my eating. It's been the workouts that have been the difference. And most of all *love* yourself, for you really have traveled a long road. You deserve to be kind to yourself for that reason alone!!!
SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted June 5, 2011 When the scale isn't showing you any love, ignore it for a few days. If you can't NOT step on it when it is out in the open - put is in the closet. Instead of the scales - compare your measurements with before measurements. Sometimes, if you are losing pounds, the inches come of slowly and visa versa. Or, if you haven't measured - try on some clothes that you used to wear and see how lose they are now. Or, if you have skinny clothes in your closet, see which ones you can wear now - or "almost" wear. The weight will come of - hang in there.
time4me 1 Posted June 5, 2011 I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery around the same time as you and i only lost 5lbs last month. 18 days ago i gained 2lbs for no reason and have stayed the same weight ever since! I know how frustrating it is to get on the scale every morning expecting to see a drop only to see the same number day after day. Maybe the 5 month mark is a common time for stalls and the loss will pick up next month. I have a lot more to lose than you so i really hope thats the case. Having said that i got up this morning and i am down those 2lbs bringing me back to what i was 3 weeks ago. I hope that means the stall is over and i'm back on the downward track. You have done really well so far for how much you have to lose, don't lose heart, as long as you are doing what you are supposed to it will come off. I also feel fat more these days, when i was at my highest i think my mind blocked out how i really looked to save me the pain and now that i'm much smaller i actually see the real me when i look in the mirror and i still have a long way to go.
