Hey NorCals! Where is everyone from?

Recommended Posts

I am thinking maybe there will be at least some closer to me so we could also have a meetup- I wold be fine going to Fremont or another place across the bay if necessary but my nerve pain in my back does not allow a really long drive like Sacto ;-(

In any case I'd love everyone to tell where they are from!

Well I guess most already know this but I live in Sacramento. Was born and raised here too! I'd like to mosey someday though, and I'm thinking either the Palm Desert area or even Arizona. Love that heat, and even more now that I get cold so easily!!!

I'm in San Jose. I could definitely drive to Fremont or RWC or Sunnyvale as someone suggested. I believe Irene (LilMissDiva) posted some possible dates: 7/9 and 7/25 I believe. I'll be out of town 7/25 but I may be able to make the 7/9. I'm having my surgery this Monday so frankly I can't say how I will be be then. I am hoping "just fine" :-). Also, I don't mind going up north more. At some point I would love to also meet those of you up toward the Sacramento area. Sorry if am going all over the place. I'm a little stressed with my date getting closer. I may just post about this. Be well everyone!!!

I'm from San Jose. I attend the support group at Kaiser Fremont the second and fourth Friday of each month (except this month we are not meeting on the 10th). The Kaiser support group is free and open to all. I'd love to meet up with other VST members before or at the support group.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
