Today was my first Dr. visit since I was sleeved last week (5/24). The Dr. removed my drain and said that I was doing good. I lost 14 pounds! I know that any loss is good, but does this compare to some of you out there? I really didn't have a post-op diet to lose on prior. Since surgery, I've been on liquids, then mushies...the Dr. said that I can have ground meats next week! It's crazy how much our Dr.'s instructions vary on here, huh? I was self-pay, so I didn't have the advantage of meeting with a nutritionist--should I? I am clueless of HOW to eat, and am TERRIFIED that I will fail :(

I just had my first post-op (2 weeks out). I've lost 7 lbs. since surgery, 38 lbs. pre-op diet. I'm averaging between 400 and 600 calories a day.

There are some good guides out there. Check out the ones on VSG FAQ: http://vsgfaq.wordpress.com/

I got advanced to soft foods today. I enjoyed 3 oz. of Jennie-O turkey meatloaf for lunch and at dinner and a low-fat cheese stick for a snack. I set my timer and took one minute for each small bite. I chewed most bites in about 30 seconds, but I gave it another 30 seconds before taking the next bite.

Hey, HelloKitty, we're almost sleeve sisters! I got mine on May 25th. I've lost 17lbs since a few days before surgery, but I am positive that at least 4-5lbs of that is pure Water (my weight was fluctuating MADLY overnight for several days). So we're having an almost identical experience so far :)

I did see a nutritionist, but honestly, the advice & information I found here & elsewhere on the internet was way more informative than anything she told me or gave me. Half the material she gave me contradicted the other half. So I'd listen to the wise people here, put it all together, and take the parts that make sense :)

And... Congrats! :)

You're welcome.! Someone else posted it on another thread awhile back. I have a very complete program from Kaiser, but it is fun to see what other programs look like.

I was sleeved may 23rd and I'm down 12 pounds. I really struggled to lose all of the Water weight I gained post op. The 12 pounds is after the water weight was gone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
