Hello Everyone! Newbie here!

Hi everyone, I'm Rachel. I live in Massachusetts. I currently have a BMI of about 65. I'll be 26 years old on June 23rd. I've been toying with the idea of weight loss surgery for a couple of years ago. I was all set to get an RNY in August, but unfortunately, I have a couple of mood disorders so I was told that I would have to stay out of the mental hospital for at least a year before they would consider me for surgery. I was also told that I am not a candidate for the RNY because it would change the way my medications are absorbed and nobody wants that. I thought that meant that my only option was the band, and that depressed me because it doesn't have very good long-term results. Then I heard about the sleeve. The more I learn about the sleeve, the more I think that it's for me. However, it's been a bit of a challenge finding a program. the two closest hospitals to me, Emerson Hospital and Lowell General Hospital, do not do the sleeve. Another hospital in the suburbs, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, does do the sleeve but I found out today that the hospital does not take my insurance. Now I'm looking into Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Mass General Hospital to have the sleeve done.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
