I went to the hospital and next thing i know im waking up post op room. I'm in so much pain, I'm taking it one hour at a time. I think the pain is from all the gas. I've been forcing myself to walk around the halls every 2 hrs and it helps.

Sounds like you are doing good with your walking. Don't be afraid to ask for more pain meds! Congrats on your surgery :) That pain should start subsiding pretty quickly, just keep up with the pain meds. Take care and good luck. Welcome to this side!

Hi and welcome to the losers bench. I am sorry you are in so much pain but walking is the best you can do that and ask for pain meds if you need it. And keep telling yourself that with each passing day you will feel better.

Congrats on being "sleeved." The first fews days are by far the hardest and you will start feeling better quickly. Walk as often as you can. When I got home, I used a heating pad for the gas pains and it seemed to help quite a bit. The more active I was, the better I felt. I tired quickly though and took both a morning and a afternoon nap for the first couple of weeks. Just think, the hardest part is over!

Hi, Marie. I'm from Michigan too, not that has anything to do with my question... I'm worried about what you said about napping 2x's a day. Because of work, I have to return just 7 days post op. I'm on my feet most of the day. My surgery is scheduled for June 28th, I'm now so nervous. Any thoughts? Will I be able to do this?

Thanks!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
