ANY JUNE SLEEVERS OUT THERE???

Recommended Posts

Hey Jewels~!

Just a little update on me (sleeved 6/6/11). Doing well overall. Some minor pain at the big incision. Can sleep on my side - either side - as long as I use a pillow to prop up my leg and against my tummy. (( Sorry hubby, no cuddling yet...) LOL Umm that brings me to a TMI question people like to ask... yes "IT" was possible and "IT" was great!! LMAO Granted it was very easy going and gentle. Have to be extra careful this early out. OK moving hahaha... what am I eating... B - Powerade Zero, Water, 1/2 serving of Protein shake... whatever I can get in. L - still finishing breakfast!! LOL and D - when I really seem to be hungry - Water, shake, lots of SF pops and Cream of Potato Soup (strained out). This diet is getting dull but in 2 weeks I get to add mushies.. so I am excited. Let's see, what else? Umm BM? Check.. VERY small, yet normal. Hunger pangs? Yep, like I said, dinner and after is my hungriest time. But I watch a lot of food Network at night, so that might add to my hunger. Energy? Hmm so-so. The Powerade Zero has helped and plus I can drink gulps of water now. I feel hydrated although I am sure I could use more. Last, but not least, I have a hematoma in my pelvic/groin area. It is the size of a golf ball, no pain unless prodded and is just ugly. Otherwise, no issues!!

Tip of the day - buy stock in sugar free pops... because I am going through them like crazy!! LOL!!!

:cheer2:

Congrats to all the Jewels that were sleeved this last week!!! YAY!!! And next week Jewels... wooosa! It will be fine. No worries!

Hey DayDreamer! Glad to hear you are doing so well!

I am 17 days out of surgery I have THREE MORE DAYS UNTIL MUSHIES!

Hang in there. I realize I am very impatient.

I want soft savory foods NOW. I want no more nausea NOW.puke.gif

I want the incision on my left side not to hurt NOW (that is the side I sleep on and it is getting old having to deal with that damn incision). hurt.gif Funny I am not as impatient about losing weight but everything else is taking to darn long.

I can barely get half a shake down in the morning. The same Soup is fine at one "meal" and then at the next it makes my tiny tummy upset or just plain pissed off! rant.gif

I want to be 6 months down the road and ABLE TO EAT SOMETHING ALREADY.hungry.gif By the way am I the ONLY sleever who had to be on thin liquids for 3 weeks not 2 weeks like most people?

YES LET'S BUY STOCK IN sugar free ICE POPS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY food THAT I CAN TOLERATE CONSISTENTLY!!! cheer2.gif

You aren't the only one. I have to do three weeks thin liquids as well. Not fun, but my MD has some of the lowest complication rates in the nation. In fact, in over 2000 sleeves he has only ever had one leak and that was caused by the person not following the postop diet and introducing solids too soon. So I will follow it to the T. My husband is making me homemade beef broth as we speak and I made homemade chicken broth last week. The guidelines I am given say whatever intake I have for these three weeks must be able to flow easily through a wire mesh sieve. So no milkshakes, yogurt, Jello. I can have SF popsicles, but my initial try on them was icky. Everything is tasting way too sweet to me. Surgery was this past Thursday.

Honestly I was not expecting to be in this much pain! When i had the Lap-Band both put on and then removed, i don't remember hurting this much. I am so groggy I can hardly hold a conversation or read a book. I drift off easily. I guess at only the second postop day I should not be expecting so much of myself, but i hate laying around! My tummy is grotesquely bloated and I can hear the gas moving around in there sometimes, but have yet to pass any of it except for a couple of good burps yesterday.. I'd ove it to start moving out. The pressure from behind is making my incisions excruciating.

I'm going to try taking a shower in a little while. So far i have drank about 20 oz today and only had a littel bit of Protein to drink. I just don't want it.

I have to admit, right now I am miserable. I sure hope it improves quickly.

Glad to hear everything went well for you. Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow. Keep me posted. Since I'm using the same doctor, I'm curious...LOL His office staff has been wonderful.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this board. I was sleeved on 6/21, came back home today

Still pretty sore

I found that mixing my vanilla whey Protein with sugar free Jello or skim milk is actually really good

I'm just so full all of the time, I don't even want any of that. Had some bouts of nausea in the hospital, but I'm o now.

Just trying to get my fluids in, so I'm drinking sugar free gatorade so I dont get dehydrated

I've been sleeping a whole lot. I hope thats normal.

Anyway, no turning back now.

Good luck those coming up!

I was sleeved on June 26th in Korea. I was on a 1 week pre op diet, which wasn't difficult. I had small amounts of rice, meat and vegetables. Lost 6lbs on the pre op diet.

I was in the hospital for a total of 7 days eventhough I don't have any obesity-related disease.

My doctor actually put me to sleep for 2 whole days because of my breathing.(I'm a smoker..)

I wasn't allowed Water until 3 days later. Did the whole liquid, puree stages and surprisingly only a month later

He put me on a regular diet.

I never really had any trouble with reflux, nausea or vomiting. I also never had problems with keeping food down.

I am really good with Water but terrible with Protein shakes. I only drank it once the whole time. My doc says I don't really have to but eat alot of tofu instead.

Good luck to all the pre op and post op jewels of June. You will be just fine.~

Sleeved 6/26/2011 -150kg

Current weight- 130kg

I am 100% Korean but because I am KoreanAmerican, I have a pear shaped body and I lost 20kg only on the top!! =(

Thank you, Jackie. I must say that picture is so pretty.

I saw some of your posts and was thinking it was so interesting because you have a certain Asian look about you that's attractive.^^

Welcome Lauren! Glad to hear that your experience went so well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
