Toberunner 0 Posted May 31, 2011 I just had my sleeve surgery last Monday. By Friday I was going out and about town with a kids hair cut and movie, Saturday held a 5 yr old's birthday party at a kids jump place.I am nuts, I know. I didn't run around or anything, I left that to my husband chasing the kiddies, but I did organize the food production and cake with candles. Yesterday I was feeling pretty good, so we went grocery shopping(For my family of course) and to a kids store. It was a lot. So I am thinking I did WAY too much because today I could not move! I slept on the couch all day. I am so impatient to get moving and start working off this weight! I am wondering when can I start walking on walks and such? I actually had it in my mind yesterday since I felt so good that maybe we could go to the zoo... I know realistically this is not possible right now. It also takes me two hours to drink the darn Protein Shake. I only get one or two in a day. Is that a bad thing not swallowing three of those beastly things down a day? Taking my chew-able daily Vitamin is the one thing that makes me spew... I am taking that Bariatic Advantage, any suggestions on how to get these down without getting sick would be nice to know? I have to take the nausea medicine and suck on them to get it down, my medicine is being refilled for the third and final time tomorrow for nausea. I am a little worried. Sincerely Anxious to get moving soon!
Foxbins 625 Posted May 31, 2011 Take it easy! I took naps every afternoon for the first two weeks and went to bed pretty early, too. It took about 3-4 weeks before my energy started to come back. I couldn't get the Vitamins down until about week two or the Calcium until week four and I switched to Centrum chewable vits and a liquid Calcium. I couldn't get all the Protein in, either. I think you are doing amazingly well. My first real walk was two miles; I had to stop midway and sit down. It was a real indication that I was doing too much too fast. Take it slow and build up with Protein, supplements, exertion.
lovin life 4 Posted May 31, 2011 Congrats on you surgery! wow it sounds like you have been busy!!! I to was anxious to get up and moving. After surgery i was out of the hospital the next day and had a 5 hour ride home(the ride about did me in!) But the next day, i went on a short walk outside(made it about 2 blocks i think), i was sore and couldnt go very fast or far without getting tired but felt like it was very important to my recovery to start walking asap(Just make sure to take your Water bottle with you). I am 10 weeks out now & have been walking or working out ever since. But everybody is different and start walking/excercising at differnt paces, follow your docs orders and do only what your body can handle. Your body will let you know! I had the same problem with my chewable Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage, nothing else caused me nasuea except those! I finally quit taking them and started taking the capsules and have done so much better on those. I have to take six a day but have no problem getting them in, and love the fact they dont turn my stomach! Take care and good luck on your journey!
Toberunner 0 Posted May 31, 2011 Thanks for the encouragement! I am glad I am not the only one having issues with the Vitamins. They seriously gross me out. I might look at switching based on the posts just to get through these few weeks. I am glad to hear that 3-4 weeks out things get better. I am so excited, my brain is saying go for it, but my body is saying no, not yet. I started drinking chicken broth to subsitute the Protein Shake once in a while. It doesn't have the Protein in it that the shake has, but oh well, I can't drink 3 of those a day! Good luck to both of you and thank you for the information and again for the encoragement! kellyw74 258 Posted May 31, 2011 I agree that you need to slow down a little. I was the same way wanting to do everything, but you must remember honey, YOU HAD MAJOR SURGERY!! My case manager put it to me this way!! "The surgery that you just had is comparable to open heart surgery!!!!" You may feel fine, but really you are not! You need to take time and be kind to yourself. REST AND RELAX!! Your body will thank you for it! As far as those BA vitamins!! BLAH!! I didn't mind them so much before surgery, but afterwards, they made me feel awful 10 seconds after I took them and then for about 15 minutes. I never vomited, but man they were bad!! I went to Target and found some gummy vitamins that have minerals in them. Should be about the same thing. My nut said as long as they have vit/minerals they should be fine! They do not make me feel sick, so I will be using them from now on! Don't be too hard on yourself about getting those drinks down. Everyday will get better about drinking! It is hard at first to consume large quantities of liquid, but it WILL get better! Take care of yourself and REST! You have the rest of your life to exercise and work on getting thin! Right now you need to heal or you will not be doing yourself any favors!! Kelly

Caliblonde 25 Posted May 31, 2011 I have flintstones complete and they don't make me nauseous. I also noticed the black spots, but only on the ones I put into a pill case. I'm going to throw those ones away.
