The nightly fever

Recommended Posts

So today is one week for me. It's been a horrible week and because I'm struggling with all of the post-op Water gain I had, I am at that point of thinking what did I do to myself? Ugh, I know it'll be better. I just have this one annoying symptom that isn't letting up.

Every night around 7pm, I spike a low grade temp. Somewhere between 99.4 and 100.0. Nothing to call the doc about, but enough that I can feel it. Tylenol usually stops it until the very next day around the same time. It's really annoying and it ruins my night. Not to mention that it's killing my sleep. Did anyone else experience this? As a nurse, I keep telling myself it's a result of the inflammation and I'm fine. As a patient, it's a little scary.

Nurse here too, and I know about not wanting to call...but since its been a 'nightly' thing maybe you should mention it. I mean I agree, body healing, temp a little up isn't huge, but why not let the doc say that. If you were beginning a bit of an infection you would want to catch it asap...you do know that too. Ahhh...the old better safe than sorry and although its difficult...play patient on this one! :) Good luck, hope he is completely unconcerned!!! *HUGS*

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
